What you can and cannot send
Australia has some of the strictest biosecurity rules in the world, and the items in your box affect whether it arrives on time.
- Allowed: clothes, shoes with no soil, bags, kitchen utensils, non-flammable cosmetics, documents and artificial jewellery.
- With conditions: medicine with the original prescription (up to a 3-month supply), and clean wooden, bamboo or straw handicrafts.
- Not allowed: any food, meat and dairy, seeds and plants, items with batteries such as phones and power banks, perfume and aerosols, gold, silver and cash.
6 Ways to Lower the Cost to Courier from Nepal to Australia
- Fill a 4 kg parcel to 5 kg. Both cost Rs. 7,500, so the extra kilo is free.
- If you are sending more than 13 kg, fill the box to 20 kg. At 20 kg the rate falls to Rs. 800 per kg for major cities, so a 20 kg box is cheaper than anything from 14 to 19 kg.
- Combine parcels with family or friends. If several people are sending to the same Australian city, one 20 kg box gives the lowest rate of about Rs. 875 per kg.
- Send documents by Australia Post if they are not urgent. It costs Rs. 3,500 instead of Rs. 5,000 by DHL, and takes 7–14 days instead of 4–7.
- Never pack food. Australia has very strict biosecurity rules, and food can be seized and destroyed, so you lose the item and the shipping cost. We do not accept any food for Australia. See what you cannot send to Australia and what you can send.
- Give us the exact postcode and suburb. City addresses get the 20 kg rate, and we can tell you the exact price for regional areas before you pack.
